Friends of Stephanie T. Bolden Proudly Announce

Wilmington, DE City Councilwoman, Stephanie T. Bolden announced today that she will run for the Delaware House of Representatives representing District 2.  Ms. Bolden, a life long resident of District 2 sites her 20 years tenure as a public servant as a testament to her abilities, experience, and dedication, towards her efforts to protect and improve the quality of life for the citizens of the 3rd  City Council district and throughout the city.  Under her leadership, the third district has experienced improvements and growth in a wide number of areas to include:  housing, business development, civic leadership, education, and scholarship.

Ms. Bolden’s roots run deep in the 2nd Representative District since she was raised as the youngest child in a single parent household.  She attended public schools in the district, and is a lifelong active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  She completed her post-secondary education at Delaware State University and graduate work at Boston College, which prepared her to serve for more than thirty years as an educator, both in the higher education and public school arenas.

Ms. Bolden has been an active leader in local organizations and initiatives that aim to improve the community.  In her more than twenty year involvement in public service, she has been deeply devoted to the growth and improvement of her community, particularly around issues of public safety, public health, education and drop out prevention, and youth development.  According to Bolden, “We have been able to accomplish much in this District, but much remains to be done.  I see my role as the Representative from this District as an extension of my commitment in serving the community to be able to broaden that role on a larger scale.  The 2nd Representative District needs more work in improving housing, increasing employment and business opportunities, improving education and recreational options for young people, and improving public safety.  As Delaware gets poised to become a world leader in the business of alternative energy, it will be important to make  sure that all Delawareans are ready to participate in these new industries, as Together, We Will Make A Difference!”
